We learned from BBC Radio 5 Live that Newbiggin by the Sea will be one of the places that the Olympic Torch will pass through on its journey to London next year. Landlord of The Old Ship, Dennis Inglis, was contacted by the UP ALL NIGHT programme for his response to the news and this was broadcast at about 1.15am on Monday 7th November. They obviously found out that Dennis is generally up all night!! Listen to the broadcast here.
Later in the programme there was a phone-in when the public was asked to say what their village/town could offer during the winter. Coble Cottage owner Eva, who is passionate about Newbiggin by the Sea, made contact and gave a fairly comprehensive response.

We are delighted to announce we have once again been awarded 'Four Star Gold' following our 2012 Quality in Tourism Assessment and with a score of 100% for cleanliness. The assessor also praised the well placed original artwork, thoughtful welcome touches and wealth of well presented local information.
Coble Cottage artworks feature in this newly released DVD which takes us on a walk through Newbiggin from the old Railway Station down Front Street to the Golf Club and back along the Promenade giving a potted history of the village en route and comparing historical footage with the modern day equivalents. A copy is available to watch in Coble Cottage and your own copy can be purchased for £7 with all profits from sales going to The Samaritan's Purse Charity.
